Oh, ich wusste gar nicht, dass SF das falscher-Läufer-Endspiel gar nicht kennt.
Partie 17 des TCEC-Finales zeigte es aber (Bewertung +4,45 mit Stockfish mit weiss am Zug)


und auch mein Stockfish hier zuhause sieht sich munter im deutlichen Vorteil. (+15,25, "Jaja, ich habe fast schon gewonnen, tirili...")
Klar "Hier hätten Tablebases geholfen!" ist natürlich richtig.
Ich fänd aber auch schon sehr gut, wenn die Engine solch elementares Wissen auch selbst hat. ("Bei so wenigen Steinen denke ich doch nicht mehr selbst, pöh!" finde ich doof)

Ich vermute aber, dass in speziell dieser Partie für SF eh nichts zu gewinnen war.
Aber wenn wegen solch einer Bewertung eine recht vorteilhafte Stellung vermurkst wurde, oder wenn in schlechterer Stellung eine Remis-Chance vertan wird, ist das doch schon ärgerlich.
Die Gier, in solch eine +4,45- oder gar +15,25-Position zu kommen, könnte schon blind machen für andere tatsächliche Gewinnwege.

Ich habe den Eindruck, das Verhalten hängt auch von der Anzahl der Threads ab und von der Stufe (unendlich, feste Tiefe, Blitz).
Jetzt bekam ich für einen Kern, 'unendlich' unten stehendes.

Schon Witzig, wie hier bis Tiefe 17 das Remis gesehen wurde,
wie dann lange Zeit geurteilt wurde dass Weiß deutlich am gewinnen ist (Werte von mehr als +50,00)
und wie dann erst wieder an Tiefe 40 das Remis erkannt wird.
Keine Ahnung, was da abläuft.

Findet zwar Lh3! aber die Bewertung ist Unsinn.

Nachtrag: Die "Hauptversion" Stockfish 4 findet bei mir Lh3 überhaupt nicht (Tiefe 41). Eine kleine Enttäuschung - und ein Argument für die Syz.-Tables.

Das Problem bei Stockfish ist, dass das futility-pruning in der Ruhesuche (qsearch) im späten Endspiel manchmal verhindert, dass sowas gesehen wird.
Ein entsprechender Patch von mir hat den Test mit 'langer' BZ leider nicht bestanden. http://tests.stockfishchess.org/tests/view/52a85b500ebc5949c4e73436

Jetzt möchte ich mit 40.000 Partien mal nachprüfen, ob und wieviele Elo dieser kleine Codefix kosten würde. Vielleicht wird er dann doch noch übernommen.

Ggf. erkennt er das falscher-Läufer-Endspiel nicht, weil hier 2 Bauern auf der H-Linie stehen?
Dann gäbe es hier Raum für Verbesserung. Ggf. sogar Verbesserungen, die sich ein Wenig in ELO auszahlen könnten.

Ich habe vergessen ob ich sie irgendwo gefunden, oder selber gebastelt habe. Daß Engine, ohne Tablebases, das Motiv nur ein einem Viersteiner erkennen ist ein altes bekanntes Problem. So trennt sich halt die Spreu vom Weizen bzw. primitives von intelligenterem Endspielwissen:

...leider hat Stockfisch in vielen Endspielen blinde Flecken!

Meistens sind dann die Bewertungen zu hoch (über 6).
Bei Analysen, und wenn man keine Tablebases benutzt ist das sehr nervend,
denn wenn man einmal nicht an die Endspiellücken von Stockfisch denkt, dann ist die Analyse falsch.

Interessant, dass SF bei dir sofort g4xh5 ziehen will, bei mir will er erst Kd6 ziehen.
Was passiert bei dir denn, wenn du 1 Thread nimmt und z.B. fest Tiefe 22 ausrechnen lässt.
Hast du dann nicht beim Übergang auf Tiefe 18 dieses ominöse

Bei mir (Stockfish_4_64bit_sse42) kommt das regelmäßig.
Ich würde ja auch an irgendeinen blöden Fehler nur hier bei mir denken. Aber SF in dieser 17. Finalpartie hat doch irgendwie auch genau so was verbrochen.

Auf jeden Fall ein sehr interessantes Phänomen.

Habe mir gerade nochmal die aktuellen Versionen von abrok.eu/stockfish runtergeladen. Bei allen bekomme ich die korrekte Draw-Bewertung.

Auf einem Rechner mit Windows 7 64bit (auf einem i5-750, aber das sollte egal sein) stellte ich das fest.

Was auf meinen Kisten funktioniert oder auch nicht funktioniert, kann der Welt natürlich herzlich egal sein.
Ich denke aber, dieses SF-Phänomen hat eben in der Partie 17 des Superfinales auch sichtbar 'zugeschlagen'. Naja, vermutlich unschädlich.
Und wer weiß, wo in den Tiefen der Suchbäume bei vielen Zügen in allen möglichen SF-Partien unerkannterweise sonst noch! Und da dann auch ggf. mit schädlichen Auswirkungen auf die Zugwahl.

Hi Benno, ich konnte dieses Verhalten von SF4 jetzt reproduzieren. Lade dir doch bitte die neueste Version herunter. Da ist alles OK.
Ich vermute, dass evtl. einer der Patches, die die Kompilierung beeinflussen, dieses Problem beseitigt haben.

Das erklärt natürlich noch nicht das Verhalten beim nTCEC.

Ich habe inzwischen genau dieses 32bit-Stockfish-4-Executable auf meinem kleinen 64bit-AMD-A4-Netbook laufen lassen. 1Core, 22 plys. Da zeigt sich das Problem nicht!!
Es tritt nur 'manchmal', oder besser gesagt: unter speziellen Bedingungen auf. Da dann aber beharrlich. Zu wissen, welche Bedingungen das sind, könnte vielleicht wichtig sein.

Aber ich werde mal die neueste SF-Version auf meinem Problem-i5 ausprobieren.

Du könntest mit Deiner Annahme, dass Stockfish wegen dieses offensichtlichen Bugs nicht die jeweils beste Fortsetzung gefunden haben, richtig liegen, ich habe mal etwas experimentiert, nach  56... Sxe6

Das ist m.E. kein falscher-Läufer-Endspiel.
So etwas gibt es nur mit Randbauern.

Aber darauf läuft es hinaus.
Stockfish schlägt bei mir ja freudestrahlend den Springer und steht dann mit dem Randbauern und dem falschen Läufer da.
Und ruft "Juchu, ich gewinne..."

Hallo,

meine alte Stockfish-Version SF 211-32ja springt sofort auf die Bewertung 0,00
und geht auch sofort in unendliche Tiefen:
0.00 [+] [*] 62. Bd5 Kg5 63. gxh5 Kxh5 (Tiefe 100, 0:01:01)

Die neueren Versionen zeigen all den vorher schon genannten Bewertungsunsinn.
