Seems you Germans have a problem with it. Believe me, I have made several attempts to make a white (light) based design but so far they have been terrible.

I do not know about you, but personally I get a headache and lots of strain on my eyes if the page is too bright.

Oh and it was not my intention to sound harsh, you are definitely entitled to your opinion and I know others would like a brighter design as well.

It will come, some day, but I can't make any promises of when.

@Martin

Your statement didn't sound harshly at all to me. I will enjoy Your site more then now when it becomes brighter...some day, as You promised.

Thank You for Your feedback!

If we look for a long time on a web page - which is natural for a live chess broadcast - then dark background colors are better for the eyes. The contrast at TCEC is ok even if I turn down the screen's brightness (which I usually do for the same reason).

Good web designers are aware of that, and at least offer an alternative "dark" design. See for example the ying/yang symbol at the top, at http://en.lichess.org/ TCEC being dark by default, is perfect for me. But if the demand for a "light" design is big, maybe such an alternative setting becomes considerable. For me it would feel like sitting in front of a flood light, though.
