- - By Peter Krug Date 2013-04-01 10:44
Hallo Chessfriends,
Hier mein Ergebnis:

Austrian Chess-studycomposer (from Peter Krug, Salzburg)

Johann Nepomuk Berger,  1845 - 1933, born and died in Graz by Oberösterreich.
He produced arround 300 endgameposition and was famous for the endgame theory ("Theorie und Praxis der Endspiele").
His studies are mostly not very artistic, and suites more for chessplayer to improve their endgame-knowledge.
One of his best study is:

Chessmaster Krejcik Josef was born in Vienna 1885 and died there 1957,
he was a very successful chessplayer and played against Aljechin, Tartakower and Spielman.
1920 He became the first President des österreichischen Bundes.
In the Heijden database exist 63 studies (composed from 1904 until 1956) from him.
The level of his studies are not high. 4 studies were awarded with prizes.
His last study looks original:

Alois Wotawa (1896 - 1970) lived in Vienna. He composed about 390 studies.
Like Günter Amann, Wotawa also loved surprising, sharpe
moves, that ends in mate, or stalemate.
Sometimes the introduction of his studies are brutal, but he has composed this without
any help from computer.
His studies were published mostly in the "Deutsche Schachzeitung" and there were no tourneys.
Therefore he has won in his long compositionlife from 1930 until 1970 (40 years) only 6 prizes.
In 1966, FIDE honored Wotawa as an international master of chess composition

New wave of Austrian chesscomposer

Internat. Master Günter Amann has about 2300 elo and lives in Nüzider (Vorarlberg).
He plays very successful for "Schachclub Hohenems".

His points are surprising, sharp moves compined with mate or stalemate and put his
ideas in a chessfriendly position. The kings therefore are often on the edge.

No 7 is one of the best study from Austria.

Hallo Schachfreunde,

Seite (argentinische Seite) anzusehen.

Wikipedia + österr. Studienkomponisten:

Stand.
