Heute bringt Helmut Pfleger in der ZEIT folgende Aufgabe. Houdini 6, sonst eine ausgezeichnete Mattsuch Engine, bleibt für Minuten und wahrscheinlich dauernd bei Bewertung 0.00. Die zum Vergleich ausprobierten anderen Engines sehen das Matt sofort oder in wenigen Sekunden. Woran mag das liegen?

Ich hab' die Stellung als Bondarenko- Studie in der HHdb, da ist sie so gespeichert:

Houdini kann ich nicht nachvollziehen, weil meiner, den ich seinerseits gekauft hatte, mit dem letzten Rechnerwechsel nicht mehr funktioniert hat, nämlich nicht aktivierter Weise, obwohl ich den Lizenzschlüssel noch hatte, und ich hab' zwar versucht, Houdart ein Mail zu schreiben, hab' aber nie Antwort bekommen.
Ein Freund hat mir dann ein Houdidit- Compile geschickt, die Eingeweihten wissen, was das ist, der die das hat's mit 30 Threads und 8G Hash sofort (in 2").
Und nein, für ein Matt in 21 für andere Engines, die ich probiert habe, auch kein Problem, z.B. SF 4, der der älteste Fisch ist, den ich habe, (in Hinblick auf die Ähnlichkeit zu Houdidit hab' ich den probiert), hat's ebenfalls sofort.

ist natürlich schon viel verlangt, andererseits wär's gerade dann nützlich. Die 50 Züge der Hauptvariante backward im Hash zu behalten, gelingt mit Huntsman schon kaum mehr mit 32G und mit Chest geht's nur deshalb blitzschnell, weil's in der Datenbank mit den optimalen Parametern drin ist.

Im Eingangsposting dieses Threads unmittelbar darüber ist die Frage aufgeworfen worden, ob es sich außer mit der Hauptlösung auch noch auf andere Weise innerhalb der 50 Züge- Regel machen lassen könnte (es sind ja noch ein paar Bauernzüge von Schwarz zu machen). Das ist ja zwar einerseits für ein Matt in x-puzzle nicht unbedingt ein Kriterium, hier halt schon, wenn man's mit game playing engines lösen will, die überall dort, wo sie das Matt aus dem Horizont der 50 Züge nach dem letzten Bauernzug verlieren, zu 0.00 springen mit der Eval.

Was z.B. für Huntsman auch schon ganz nützlich wäre: wenn man ihm die 50 Züge hinaufsetzen könnte. Robert Bauer hat das mal in einen CFish eingebaut anno dazumal, Houdini hatte es auch (aber nur unter die 50 absenkbar, mir scheint), den hab' ich sogar noch, den speziellen CFish von Robert, aber diese Engine hat für sowas halt wieder zuviel nullmove pruning, ebenso wie SF selbst. Cyclic Zugzwang ist ja hier das Thema, anders ist der König von der Dame allein nicht aufs einzige Mattfeld auf a3 dirigierbar, und der zweite b- Bauer muss dann schon auf b3 stehen, damit's überhaupt funktioniert. Was die Sache aber erst so richtig knifflig macht, ist die Pattdrohung, mit der Schwarz vor allem in der Ecke h1 dagegenhält. Wenn sich der König im falschen Moment noch einmal dorthin flüchten kann, nämlich wenn Schwarz auch keine Bauernzüge mehr hat, ist's remis.

Aber wie man sieht, ohne weitere Einschränkungen rechnet er sich bei dieser Aufgabe einfach tot.
Die selektive Suchtiefe erreicht nicht mal annähernd die nötigen 99 Halbzüge ...

Hier mal auf meiner Kister mit 8 GB PNS Hash:

Mit meinem Jim Ablett- Compile kann ich nur 1024Mb Hash insgesamt und 1024Mb PNS- Hash nutzen.

Das ist das einzige 3.2- Compile, das ich habe. Mit dem 3.0 (von dem ich gar nicht weiß, woher ich's habe, auf github gibt's ja nach 2.0 keine Compiles) gehen 16384 bei beiden Hash- Werten, damit hab' ich's mit go mate 50 probiert, wurde kurz gerechnet, dann hat sich das Konsolen- Fenster geschlossen

Ah ja, ich verwende natürlich eine Entwicklungsversion.

Solltest du nicht selber kompilieren können, die Sourcen sind hier https://github.com/joergoster/Stockfish/tree/matefish2,
musst du wohl bis zum nächsten Release warten. Sorry.

Ich habe mir die Matefish Dev vom März 2025 aus Github geholt und selbst compiliert. Diese Version schafft's noch nicht.

In Arena mit 1 GB Hash + 16 GB PNS Hash und dem Befehl go mate 50 gestartet.

Dabei fiel mir auf, dass Matefish pv e2e4 ausgibt, was in doppelter Hinsicht ein illegaler Zug ist (Zugrecht und falsche Richtung). Vermutlich nur ein kosmetisches Problem, weil es keine Hauptvariante auszugeben gab. Auffällig war außerdem, dass es zum 15. Halbzug keine Ausgabe gab.

Dies ist einfach eine extrem anspruchsvolle Aufgabe für einen Mattlöser.

Auch eine Begrenzung der Suche auf den einzigen Lösungszug mittels
go mate 50 searchmoves f4d2
bringt nicht viel.

Hier fehlt einfach das Wissen, wie und wohin die weiße Dame den schwarzen König treiben muss, um mattzusetzen.

Zu dem Matt in 50 noch ein Nachtrag: tatsächlich hat Weiß offenbar außer dem Lösungszug 1.Dd2! wirklich keinen anderen, der gewinnt, nicht in 50, nicht in 60 und nicht in 100  Zügen, auch wenn man sich um die 50- Züge- Regel nicht kümmert, was man ja im Kunstschach nicht machen muss. So erstaunlich ich das anfangs (und eigentlich immer noch) fand und finde. Was einen (mich) immer wieder in die Irre geführt hat: z.B. nach 1.Qc7+? Ke6 kann Schwarz nach 2.Dc5+ mit 2...Kf6? fehl gehen, weil so das Zugrecht wieder in einer Stellung auf Weiß fällt, die in die Hauptvariante münden kann, nämlich mit 3.Dd5!, damit ist dieselbe Stellung erreicht wie nach 1.Dd2 Kf6 2.Dd5.
Hingegen nach 1.Qc7+? Ke6 2.Dc5 Kd7! ist das 3Ecksmanöver von Weiß gescheitert und es gibt keinen Weg mehr (wenn Schwarz nicht neuerlich patzt) in die Mattführung hinein zu kommen.

Übrigens, wer das komponiert hat, weiß ich auch immer noch nicht. Das kam mal in einer der ACT- Suiten vor, ich hab's mir scheint auch mal im Glarean gesehen, aber einen Autor kenne ich keinen. HHdb und YACPDB haben's auch nicht gespeichert.

hat Chest das in der Datenbank, die es beim Download mitbringt. Dort ist das dieser Eintrag in Zeile 6495:

Mit den Parametern, die da bezeichnet sind (ohne die rechnet sich Chest auch tot daran) hat's die Engine sofort.

Nächstbeste Engine war bei meinen Versuchen Sting, aber auch der die das lässt sich hier immer wieder mal reinlegen und schwankt beim Ausspielen (nicht nach dem Lösungszug, nach dem erkennt die Engine sofort, dass es ein Matt wird, die Zugzahl stimmt meistens nur zufällig, ungefähr oder gar nicht, wenn man dem Matt noch nicht nahe genug entlang der HV gekommen ist,  aber Sting ist ja auch keine auf die Mattsuche spezialisierte Engine), fängt man mit einem anderen als dem Lösungszug an, kann es auch Sting immer wieder mal passieren, eine DTM in den Output zu bekommen, obwohl's schon remis ist bei bester Gegenwehr.
Ich hatte mit Marek Kwiatkowski, der übrigens auch gerade eine bugfix- Version seiner Version 10 veröffentlicht hat, in dem Thread vom Link auch ein paar wechselseitige Postings darüber, die du leicht findest, wenn du den Talkchess- Thread vom Link durchblätterst.
Heute habe ich erst ziemlich zeitgleich mit hier am Ende des Talkchess- Threads noch eine Zusammenfassung gepostet im gleichen Sinn wie hier.
