Thanks. Your explanations show high expertise, but I think at least one element is debatable:

Zitat:
mnv=-15 ,mxv=15

IMO, this gives an "unnatural" bonus to Black. It is normal that White has an edge if he manages to play close to optimal. So I conclude, these thresholds should not be symmetrical. Something like -10, +20 would seem better to me.

Also, I think a rather small bandwidth of 30 centipawns only, must result in a narrow repertoire (as for the first 3 or 4 moves), but I am not sure about that? OTOH, it may ensure better quality than bigger margins. Not sure what to prefer, for TCEC.

I would be interested which mainstream openings have been removed by your creation process, esp. common gambits. Is d4 d5 c4 still in?

Thanks anyway!

Hi Michael,

I am not sure if you have read the Excel-document, but an important point is:

Advices
Don't use asymetric Window such as ]-11 ; +25[ because it is meaningless for both engines

Meaning that the program only accepts symnetrical windows, such as -20 +20 or -10 + 10.
I have already forwarded a question to the programmer, Gabriel Guillory, if this is possible to change because I would also like the possibility of setting black to for example 0 and white to +20.

I did a search in the pgn I have so far (only about 15% complete), and no sign of d4 d5 c4 yet... we'll see.

I have updated the info page with some info. Look under "Opening Book" and you can find an ECO distribution table of the book (so far, remember only about 15% done).

Sounds reasonable. I'd even suggest -10, +30 but that may be too liberal.

Minus 10 would probably allow some gambits to be included, where the "true capacity" of White is actually positive, and engines typically misevaluate such positions, but are capable to continue strong. But that is just a guess and maybe, gambits would require the eval window to go even lower?!

Anyway, since we do a hobby I think we should not make a "dissertation" from it. I'm sure whatever you decide will be ok.

As for ECO codes, thanks, but I have never paid much attention to ECO codes. They are for the Pros.
