Hallo zusammen

heute habe ich mich getraut und einige Wattmessungen diverser Hardware gemacht. Der Schreck sitzt tief!

Intel Nehalem W5580 (3,3GHz) 2 x 4 cpu onboard: Leerlauf 180W, Vollast 410W...das ist schlimm

Intel E5 2687 W (3,4GHz) 2 x 8 cpu onboard: Leerlauf 130W, Vollast 480W...für 16 cores viel, aber in Ordnung.
Intel 3960X (4,3Ghz übertaktet) 1 x 6 cpu onboard: Leerlauf 120W, Vollast 280W
Intel W5680 (3,2GHz) 2 x 6 cpu onboard: Leerlauf 210W, Vollast 350W...für 12 cores sehr gut bei Vollast, jedoch der Leerlauf nicht so gut (Viele Lüfter, große WaKü)
Intel i5 3570K (4,5 GHz übertaktet) 1 x 4 cpu onboard: Leerlauf 40W, Vollast 180W. Wirklich ein Sahnestückchen. 180 Watt bei 4 x 4,5 GHz. IvyBridge gewinnt !!

Hello Clemens, that's a very interesting comparison.
Can you also add the relative node speeds obtained with Fritz benchmark or Houdini 3 autotune?

Mein Testnotebook (Intel i7-2630QM Prozessor (4 Kerne, 2.0GHz Takt)), auf dem ich die LS-Rangliste erstelle, braucht im Vollast 4-Kern Schachbetrieb genau 60 Watt (Fritzmark 20.2). Houdini 3 kommt bei vollem Brett so auf ca. 7-7.5 mio Knoten/s (auf 4 Cores, HT off)...
Umgerechnet auf die GHz-Leistung ist das also noch sparsamer als der übertaktete i7-3570 (der hat 2.25 (4.5 geteilt durch 2.0) mal mehr GHz und dürfte somit nur 135 Watt ziehen, statt 180...)

Bekommst Du die 7-7.5 mio Knoten/s auf der Grund_Stellung? Ohne Large Pages? (vieviel Hash?)
Und alles das mit nur 2.0GHz Takt?

Dann ist der Intel i7-2630QM Prozessor wirklich erstaunlich!...

Nein, bei vollem Brett im Mittelspiel. In der Grundstellung sind es so 6-6.5 Mio Kn/s.

for 3 machines I did the Fritz13 benchmark.

the 12 core, downclocked to 3063Mhz/ 350 Watt : relative speed 40.45, kNs 19414
the 16 core machine : relative speed 47.10, kNs 22608
the 6 core 4300Mhz : relative speed 38.34, kNs 18404

the IvyBridge is in a game, and I must prepare for tomorrows work now.
