1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Nc3 Nf6 4. Bb5 Bb4 5. O-O O-O 6. Bxc6 {The idea behind
this variation comes from Nimzowitsch. White intends to prepare the advance f4
after playing d3, then to open the f-file, dominate the outpost f5 by Nf5 and
mount an attack on the king.
d3 Bd6 8. Bg5 $6 {This move does not fit into the above mentioned
Nimzowitsch-Plan. The correct follow-up to White's plan would be:: a) h2-h3
then g2-g4 and the queen's knight heads for the outpost f5 (e.g.
Nc3-Ne2-Ng3-Nf5!) b) the white monarch usually goes to g2 (/\Rh1) or h1 (/
\Rg1). c) after this preparation White must get in the advance f2-f4 then the
attack on the king. d) very often the game takes on a positional character
after the exchange of several pieces. Diser Zug paßt nicht zum oben genannten
Nimzowitsch-Plan.
Abtausch mehrerer Figuren positionellen Charakter.} (8. h3 $142) 8... h6 9. Bh4

10... g5 $1 {Now White has fallen into the trap. Jetzt ist der Anziehende in
die Falle geraten.} 11. Nxf6+ (11. Nxg5 Nxd5 $1 $19 {costs a piece. Kostet
eine Figur.}) 11... Qxf6 12. Bg3 Bg4 13. h3 Bxf3 14. Qxf3 Qxf3 15. gxf3 $17 {
Pay attention! This is a very instructive classical position. White is playing
with practically no pieces. The g3-bishop is blocked in and can only free
itself by a pawn sacrifice (e.g. Kg2, Bh2, f4 and after ef4 White plays f3 and
then Bg1), but this costs both time and material. Black's correct plan to
realise his positional advantage is simple: queenside attack, where after
getting a space advantage, breaking through and opening up the queenside Black
has an extra piece (Bd6). {Achtung!
Damenflügels Schwarz eine Figur mehr (Bd6) hat.} f6 16. Kg2 a5 {/\a4} 17. a4 {
It is interesting to point out that Black has a bad bishop (seven black pawns
are on black squares and he has a black-squared bishop!!), but despite that
White could probably only save himself if the f2-pawn was not there.
} Kf7 18. Rh1 Ke6 {Centralisation. Zentralisierung.} 19. h4 Rfb8 {Black
ignores the kingside, because White can achieve nothing there.
bekommen kann.} 20. hxg5 hxg5 {Opening the h-file is of no use. The action is
all on the queenside. Die Öffnung der h-Linie ist nutzlos. Das Haupttheater
ist der Damenflügel.} 21. b3 c6 {Let's not be too hasty! Black calmly prepares
the thrust b5. Nichts überstürzen! Schwarz bereitet gemütlich den Vorstoß b5
vor.} (21... b5 $2 22. axb5 Rxb5 23. Ra4 Rb4 24. Rha1 $13) 22. Ra2 b5 23. Rha1
